Transforming a kitchen
Over the years our kitchens have become a central point within our homes. Rather than just serving the purpose of cooking, the kitchen has now become a communal area, a meeting point, and a point of entertainment. A popular trend that reflects this development is the transformation of a closed kitchen into an open kitchen and living space.
During this project, I was able to transform such a space based on my client’s wishes to create a kitchen with an open living area.
The main advantage of an open kitchen layout is the spacious feeling that is created. By removing some of the walls and creating openings you can create a connection between the kitchen, dining area, and living room. This not only allows for more space but also creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere and enables the residents to circulate and interact more freely.

From Closed to Open Layout
The newly created space allows for social interaction and collective experiences. Instead of being isolated while cooking the residents are now able to freely communicate with guests or family members. The open layout allows the people to sit together and have vibrant conversations while preparing food, cooking, or eating together. This transforms the kitchen into a central hub of social life within the home.
If you are thinking about redesigning your kitchen, a similar open layout could be a good investment enriching your home, your lifestyle, and your daily routines.
Removing walls allows for more natural light to pass through your home. Sunlight is now less obstructed and creates a bright and welcoming atmosphere within your home. This makes the rooms seem bigger and more open.
A combination of kitchen and living space allows for more flexibility and enables you to use this space for a multitude of purposes. You can use this space as a dining area, working area, or even to entertain your family or guests. This allows you to fit the space exactly to your needs.
